No signage for the hotel. Walked around for awhile trying to find it, wouldn't have found it if she didn't notice us outside and call us in.
The lady is very friendly and helpful. She doesn't speak much English but tries her best. Is on the main street near restaurants and shops. Quiet room with a big TV.

Very friendly staff/family and a relaxing atmosphere
The family that runs Sunrise Meiji-ya were extremely friendly and even though we had a large language barrier, we all had a laugh about it and made do with sign language and broken English/Japanese. We had a Japanese style room and was what I was expecting in regards to bed style and room size. The hotel is a short walk to town and the ski lifts. We also found Nozawa Onsen a lot more vibrant and busy (in a good way) than other Japanese ski towns.

    Not recommend for Winter stay.
Toilet and hallway are very cold.No central heater. The owner speak almost no English. Be careful as no English sign to tell you the hotel nàme and the photo look different from what you see on website.
    Facility is clean and calm.

Very basic accomodation.- overpriced for what it provides.
Mama nice but No speak English - Daughter who does should do more! Very basic accommodation. Bathroom outside in hall NO hotwater. Bath ( onsen ) only down in basement but only open from 5pm to 8pm. Lock out from lodge at 11pm. No chair in room - would be a help to provide one for westerners. Futons no fun at all - would not take much to westernize rooms as they are quite big.
